Future Island's new release 'On The Water' combines elements of New Wave with Shoegaze/ Dream Pop. Samuel Herring's dark, growly, Morrissey-esque vocals give added substance and melancholy to these beautifully constructed tracks. Romantic sliding licks teamed with attention to detail in the record's production make this a perfect pensive listen, with some songs drawing comparison to Beach House's Teen Dream, who also cut their teeth on Baltimore's underground music scene.
This past weekend saw the visit of some of my Cardiff friends to the City of Light. This picture shows my friend Byron with a passed out Rob, photographic evidence that Brummie's have no endurance.
